Summer therapeutic camp for HIV positive people (Chernovitskiy region, 2005)

13 of August 2005 in Chernovitskiy region therapeutic camp “The Road to Life” for HIV-positive people and their families completed its work. The camp was organized by “Changing the World” Regional charitable foundation and coalition of local HIV-service organization. “The Road to Life” is the second project of Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation on supporting summer therapeutic camps in regions. The foundation has been supporting therapeutic camp “Return of love” in Poltava region for two years.

The aim of the camp is not only organization of useful trainings and lessons for people involved in epidemic, but improvement of their life quality. Organizers were striving to bring total understanding of tolerant attitude towards HIV- positive people. They declare: “We say: Not all people are HIV-positive, but all HIV-positive are people”.

Therapeutic camp started its work on 31 of July. More than 60 participants from Chernovitskiy, Khmelnitskiy, Ivano-Frankovskiy and Ternopolskiy regions, Kamenets-Podolskiy and Lutsk attended the camp in two shifts till the 13 of August. “Road to Life” is being conducted for the second year at a run. It was organized in 2005 by coalition of HIV–service organizations, which were cooperating under the slogan “Act, consolidating!”. Members of the coalition are Chernovitskiy regional department of All-Ukrainian Network of people living with HIV/AIDS (NPLWH), Chernovitskiy regional center of prevention and fight against AIDS, city charitable foundation “Life pro Life”, Regional charitable foundation “Changing the World”. Camp was actively supported by many governmental and social organizations.

ANTIAIDS Foundation procured for the camp tourist equipment, necessary for habitation and domestic provision of participants, and equipment for trainings. 

Regional charitable foundation “Changing the World” was registered in May of 2004.  Activity territory – Chernovitskiy, Ivano-Frankovskiy, Khmelnitskiy regions and Moldova Republic. The main direction of work is HIV/AIDS prevention and tolerant attitude to HIV-positive people promotion. The basis of activity – Christian values.  Target group – school children, students, social workers, teachers, journalists, priests of Christian churches of various confessions.
