The participants in the marathon will have an opportunity to discover new sports, to visit the workshops of famous coaches and to take part in team games. At two sites, from 9:30 to 17:30 there will be workshops in Zumba, boxing, TRX, Fly Yoga, Circuit Training and strongmen’s endurance training as well as lessons and talks with champions in different types of martial arts who, especially for the marathon event, have prepared a separate training module for girls. Additionally, marathon participants may participate in an active workout called FunUp, hear lectures on healthy eating and active lifestyle, and for the youngest guests participate in Zumba Kids.
The training and workshop schedule will be updated regularly on the marathon Facebook profile.
The marathon will become part of the large campaign #yatsezmozhu initiated by the Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation and ICTV channel in May 2015. TV presenters of the morning show "Morning in the City", together with famous Ukrainians suggest within a special commentary section various tests connected with a healthy lifestyle. After passing these tests the audience acquires new healthy habits – for example, the habit of consuming enough water, or the habit of using condoms during sex. To join celebrities, any interested person may declare their social position and record a video of their public promise to pass the test – then post this video in social media networks with the hashtag #yatsezmozhu.
More information about the project is available at safeconnection.org/ya-tse-zmozhu.
The partners supporting the marathon are the ICTV TV channel; the Strongman Federation of Ukraine (founded in 2009, recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine); the Zumba Fitness dance platform, combining Latin rhythms with physical and cardio exercises; the SpartaBox Fight Club, which currently trains the world and European champions and winners of many international tournaments, and were first to launch a movement in Ukraine called "white-collar boxing"; and the FreeGen sports community and sports X-Park entertainment complex.
A special partner of the marathon was the Coca-Cola company, which provided souvenirs and free drinks for the most active participants of the project.
This event is the second example of cooperation of the Safe Connection project with the healthcare industry. On October 12, 2014, the Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation organized the charity fitness marathon "Do not be indifferent!", aimed at collecting donations to help care for the HIV-positive refugee children from the ATO zone. The partners of the campaign were the top ten Kiev fitness clubs, as well as the National University of Physical Education and Sport, which provided the location for the marathon event.
The Safe Connection information resource created by the Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation, with generous support of The Coca-Cola Foundation, commenced activities in 2011. Its content features lively and vivid information about healthy lifestyles, safe sex practices, and HIV/AIDS prevention while providing an opportunity for young people to discuss these important topics with their peers, experts and celebrities.
