Elena and Victor Pinchuk to provide artificial lung ventilation machines to Ukrainian hospitals due to proliferation of coronavirus

The Elena Pinchuk Foundation and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation will provide Ukrainian hospitals with 10 state of the art artificial lung ventilation (ALV) machines due to the proliferation of coronavirus infection COVID-19.

Taking in consideration the recommendations of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the mashines will be supplied to Ukraine’s regions that may have the greatest demand, specifically: Chernivtsi, Donetsk, Luhansk, Lviv, Odesa, Volyn and Zakarpattia oblasts will receive one AVL machine each, and three more machines will be handed to Kyiv’s hospitals.

Special AVL machines are a key element in treating patients with coronavirus having heavy respiratory complications and needing hospital admission.

The medical equipment has been already delivered to Ukraine and will be installed in hospitals in the coming days.

Commenting, Elena and Victor Pinchuk have said: “Our task today is to do our best to help the doctors and provide the necessary conditions to save as many lives as possible.”

According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, as of March16th, 169 387 COVID-19 cases have been registered across the world, with 77 257 (45,6%) people who have recovered. According to the official statistics, there are so far 5 confirmed coronavirus cases in Ukraine, including one deadly.
