International collaboration

Amongst our priorities is drawing attention of the international leaders and communities towards HIV/AIDS problem in Ukraine and bringing best international experience in our country. That is why our foundation is concentrating on building partnerships with international organizations. That gives us possibility for experience exchange, implementation of new approaches and helps to attract additional resources in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Ukraine.

Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation and UNAIDS award interactive responses to AIDS

Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation announced the winners of the "Social Media and Mobile Phones for HIV Prevention" competition on 18 January 2012. The project entries by South African non-profit organization Cell-Life and by Chinese internet portal Danlan were declared winners. More than 50 teams from 19 countries took part in the competition.

Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation announced the winners of the "Social Media and Mobile Phones for HIV Prevention" competition on 18 January 2012.

"Social media and mobile phones for HIV prevention" competition
Arising from the work of the UNAIDS High Level Commission on HIV Prevention, the Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation is launching the competition "Social media and mobile phones for HIV prevention". The competition will award up to 10,000 USD to innovative, start-up projects to show proof of concept.

Elena Franchuk entered UNAIDS High Level Commission on HIV Prevention
Elena Franchuk, Founder of the ANTIAIDS Foundation, entered UNAIDS High Level Commission on HIV Prevention that was created to make "preventive revolution" - the world-break in prevention of the new HIV cases. The announcement was made today in Vienna, where XVIII International AIDS Conference takes place. The United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS invited more than 15 world renowned leaders to join Commission - famous politicians, social activists, doctors, sportsmen, IT celebrities, well-known journalists and advertisers to use their unique authority and influence to lead a social and political action campaign over the coming year aimed at galvanizing support for effective HIV prevention programmes.

Life must go on! Charitable concert Queen + Paul Rodgers

Ushering in the start of their massive European tour Queen + Paul Rodgers made a mighty impact on September,12 2008 with a special one-off concert to support Elena Franchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation' informative campaign in Ukraine.

Playing an awareness-raising outdoor concert in Kharkov's Freedom Square, the second largest Square in Europe, at the event organized by the Elena Franchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation and supported by Queens' own HIV/AIDS charity, The Mercury Phoenix Trust, the show by Queen + Paul Rodgers attracted more than 350,000 to see the overture concert for its 33-city tour of Europe and immediately entered the record books as the biggest charity event devoted to the fight against AIDS in Ukraine.

Elena Franchuk by invitation of Crown Princess of Norway Mette - Marit took part in the AIDS 2031 Summit

Elena Franchuk, Founder of ANTIAIDS Foundation, by invitation of UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador Crown Princess of Norway Mette - Marit took part in the II International Summit AIDS 2031. She discussed with the thirty young leaders from around the world the most effective experience and resources of young leaders in the fight against AIDS epidemic. In the context of the three-days summit young people worked together to identify the most successful projects in the fight against AIDS and reviewed the recommendations for politics, donors and media.

Miss World discusses HIV/AIDS problem with Ukrainian students
On April, 23 2008 students of Institute of International Relationships named after T. Shevchenko (IIR) met with Zi Lin Zhang, Miss World 2007, Julia Morley, "Miss World" Organization Chairman and Chief Executive, and Elena Franchuk, Founder of the ANTIAIDS Foundation. The topic of the meeting was "Celebrity vs Society: popularity and social duty". Participants of the meeting discussed several subjects: why celebrities are engaged in charity, what winners of the beauty contests are able to do to overcome HIV/AIDS epidemic in Ukraine, and what students are able to do for this. This meeting is a part of the 5 year social project announced by Miss World Committee devoted to the fight against AIDS and diminishing stigma of HIV-positive people.

Ukrainian business leaders met with Richard Holbrooke, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS
On October, 25 2007 Ukrainian business met with Richard Holbrooke, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC). GBC is an international organization united the biggest companies in the fight against AIDS. Meeting was organized by GBC and Elena Franchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation. Elena Franchuk, Founder of ANTIAIDS Foundation, Dr. John Tedstrom, Executive Director of GBC, Martin Raizer, the World Bank economist, Vladimir Pozner, Founder of “Russian media-partnership against AIDS” were the speakers of the meeting. As the result Ukrainian “team” of GBC members was doubled.

“Interpipe” corporation was the first Ukrainian private company that joined to GBC three years ago. Ambassador Richard Holbrooke reminded of this during the meeting with Ukrainian business while introducing the new participant of GBC - Industrial Union of Donbass.

Miss World took part in the social defile Love Fashion AID in Ukraine
October, 16 2007 Elena Franchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation presented a unique social collection Love Fashion AID devoted to the fight against AIDS. Each of 38 Ukrainian designers created two wedding dresses for this collection dedicated to HIV-positive people. “HIV/AIDS is not the verdict. Live is going on! And the happiness is real!” – The project participants claimed. The show produced by well-known Ukrainian designer Alexey Zalevskiy deeply touched guests in Ukrainian fashion Week’ pavillion and TV audience as the show was broadcasted live. HIV-positive people, Ukrainian celebrities took part in the show and Miss World 2006 Tat’ana Kucharova closed the show.

HIV positive orphans in post Soviet Union countries
- the life of these orphans and the role of the government and NGOs in their lives were discussed in May, 15 in Moscow by the experts from Ukraine, Russia, Romania and France on the satellite symposium “AIDS orphans: a growing problem in Eastern Europe. The role of government, NGOs and civil society”. The satellite was organized by Elena Franchuk “ANTIAIDS” Foundation.

The partnership with Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GBC on HIV/AIDS)
In July, after Richard Holbrook visit in Ukraine, ANTIAIDS Foundation was officially acknowledged as the partner of Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS as well as Ukraine was recognized by the GBC as one of the priority countries for private sector activity reinforcement in fighting HIV/AIDS epidemic.

In January 2004 on the invitation of UN Secretary-General Koffy Annan Elena Franchuk and her husband Viktor Pinchuk who represented ICTV TV channel participated in the Global Media AIDS Initiative.
